Sports Award 2011, 2011 Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award


India‘s ace shooter Gagan Narang has been conferred with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award by President Pratibha Patil at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on Monday (29-08-2011). Narang collected the trophy that consists of a medal, citation and cash prize of Rs 7.5 lakh from President Pratibha Patil.

Dhyan Chand Award is India’s highest award for lifetime achievement in sports and games. The award is named after the legendary Indian hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. The award was initiated in 2002. The award carries a cash prize of INR 1.50 lakh (150,000 rupees), a plaque and scroll of honor.
