Some of India's best colleges and research centers may soon have the power to award degrees on their own, without depending on larger universities they are currently affiliated to.
Delhi's St Stephen's college and St Xavier's college in calcutta are among the likely beneficiaries of a human resource development ministry plan, "These institutions will receive the limited power to award degrees. Colleges will get the power to award undergraduate degrees while research centers will get the power to award postgraduate degrees"
So this is great time for some big Indian Colleges.
