Indian railways has launched new tatkal reservation scheme which will be start from Monday 21 nov 2011 in which the train reservation period has been reduced to one day to two days. The tatkal reservation scheme helps to meet the urgent requirement of the passengers who want to plan their journey at short notice.
According to the new rule, Now you can book Tatkal tickets only 24 hours before the commencement of railway journey. The restriction period for agents is being extended from one hour to two hours (8 am to 10 am) and there will be no refund on confirmed Tatkal tickets except during cancellation of trains and late running of trains.
Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi was quoted as saying to reporters, "Tatkal is a facility for emergency travel. It is meant for unplanned travel. But we have reports touts are misusing it by blocking berths."
